Why some people hate Indians?
From spending time in western countries, some views westerners and even 2nd generation Indians (born in the west) hold of Indians are due to the following experiences/prejudices:
1. Pure Racism - skin colour, different physical appearance etc. In the case of 2nd gen Indians born in the West, this often translates as “self-hate” and they are often the worst perpetrators of hate against “fresh off the boat” Indians. In a recent case a Sikh American verbally abused an immigrant Indian for being “dirty” just because his feet could be seen (presumably he was wearing sandals or flip flops) in a Taco Bell in California.
2. The strong smell of curry (straight after someone has had lunch/dinner) compared to the rather neutral/bland odour of western cuisine - and the after effects such rich food can cause, like involuntary belching in some people. Westerners not used to the food can’t handle it.
3. Excessive use of cheap deodorant which irritates people on public transport.
4. Eating with hands - particularly rice and curry with hands is considered unhygienic, messy and bad manners in the west. But Indians find this method the most enjoyable way of eating and are proud of it.
5. Blatant One-upmanship and showing-off - a trait which seems to be more subtle in westerners.
6.Obsession with academic education while placing less importance on extra curriculars like sport etc. - therefore perceived to produce less rounded individuals and more “techies” / “nerds”, spelling bee winners, chess players etc. less able to think outside of the box…
7. Appear to be arrogant/aggressive/pushy/verbally abusive with service staff like waiters or air hosts. Never say please or thank you to poor Subway sandwich makers - leads to westerners’ view that Indians see retail/food service staff as lower life forms.
8. Caste system.
9. Obsession with over-tutoring kids to get into free magnet high schools in US and free grammar schools in Uk (these are outstanding tax-payer funded free Government schools for academically gifted children whose parents can’t afford or don’t want to pay for private school). Westerners generally prefer a non-tutored approach to allow only naturally gifted kids places at such schools and make it a level playing field. But with Indians over-tutoring and getting kids into such schools who might not be as naturally gifted, westerners feel compelled to tutor as well because their kids might lose out…which costs $$$…which creates animosity.
10. Going to the west for higher education as a way to get a passport and then bring over entire family and not integrating with westerners. Some westerners see this as disingenuous.. and even part of an invasion to avenge for the British empire’s rule over India…even though the immigration systems allow it and universities actually encourage it because they just want the $$$
11. Perceived lack of sense of personal space. Like standing too close on public transport or in an elevator for no reason. Usually put down to being from overcrowded cities in India. Images of Indians hanging off commuter trains in Mumbai spring to the mind of the westerner.
12. Snorting/sniffing in public places. While westerners prefer to quickly blow their noses publicly into a handkerchief (which other cultures find disgusting by the way!), they find it strange that Indians often make continuous snorting sounds (and presumably swallow their snot?) especially on public transport rather than blow their nose.
13. overloading in buffet restaurants and airport lounge buffets. Westerners find this rude, Indians see it as getting bang for their buck.
14. Fetish with medical and engineering fields. Some westerners have had their kids told by indian kids that they are “thick” or “drop outs” just for studying liberal arts/humanities instead of science and have found this offensive.
15. Blowing the trumpet on the Google and Microsoft CEOs as if these represent all Indians whereas westerners believe that such people are a tiny minority of Indians compared to the huge population. Similarly, blowing the trumpet on politicians who got into office in the US, UK and Ireland rather than giving credit to Western education and democracy. Whereas if you look at their backgrounds, they were all born and educated in the west, in some cases had been settled in East Africa for generations even before the creation of the Indian Republic, and some even hold anti-immigration views accusing Indian immigrants of being the biggest overstay offenders.
16. Argumentative and overly stubborn in negotiation, adamant that it’s their way or the highway. This is perceived by westerners as rudely lacking in civil debating etiquette - while Indians pride themselves on being super-sharp negotiators. This is also evident in the difference between current affairs shows on news channels in India and the west. Indian news channels such as the hilarious “WION” are an absolute sh*t show of an advert for journalism.
17. Blatantly ogling at white women. Probably when first arriving in the country. Women get very uncomfortable with the unwelcome attention.
18. Bollywood - is seen as high volume, low quality cinema compared to Hollywood. Often described as “diarrhea”. All the singing and dancing is seen as unnecessary and comedic - as the musical genre pretty much died out in the West a long time ago. Westerners are puzzled why the female singers have such squeaky high pitched voices which sound like screaming babies.
19. Arranged/family-introduced marriage with little or no courtship. Alien concept in the west which died out a long time ago. Some see it as inferior culture because it treats grown people as kids.
20. Westerners find the Indian English accent and often wrong use of grammar difficult to understand and not attractive like some other foreign English accents from Europe. They also find the head shaking/bobbling odd. In a recent much publicized case, a US born Mexican American woman in Texas attacked a group of immigrant Indian American ladies making fun of their accents.
21. Overly nationalistic for country of origin. Many societies are guilty of this - not just Indians. But western perception is that they’re settled in our country so they should tone it down as it’s divisive and comes across as arrogant and disloyal to the host nation.
22. Black people find Indians to be racist. Africans who go to India to study have been hurt by their experience of racism. Western black Caribbean people who have gone to India to cheerlead/dance on the sides of Indian cricket league matches alongside white women, have been openly told “no-one wants to see black women here…” and they publicised these inhumane experiences in their home country’s media.
23. The call centre scammers in India have created a bad reputation for Indians abroad. Many innocent and old westerners have been swindled of their retirement savings and now hold this against all Indians. They also feel aggrieved that the Indian authorities don’t crack down on it.
24. Extreme hate of the British (or “Britishers” as they prefer to call them) for the British Empire’s rule over India, massacres and looting of India’s riches and blaming all their problems on that even though the Brits left 75 years ago. Despite such hate, many Indians still appear overly keen on establishing the English language as the primary language in their homes - particularly with their kids - at the expense of their own languages, and on going for higher education/immigrating to the UK.
25. Exposure of feet in inappropriate places. Wearing of sandals/flip flops with jeans/ trousers etc. seems to irk some westerners as unhygienic due to the open display of feet - but is quite normal in Indian culture. Recently a Sikh American went on a verbal tirade against one such feet-exposing Indian immigrant in a Taco Bell in California.
That said some westerners also admire Indians abroad for things like hard work ethic, willing to risk it all in entrepreneurial pursuits (well suited to capitalism) and low violent crime rate - in that sense Indians are sometimes called a “model minority”.

Why some people hate Indians?
Because many scam people by the masses. Many of them are complete thieves. And I mean MANY. Scamming people has become a large part of their culture. I can say these things without any implied racism because they are true on the most part. Don’t believe me, look into it. You’ll see. I think as long as these people keep scamming their way through everything, awareness of this must climb to combat it. It will make it even harder for them to find the legitimate work that scammers aren’t worthy of. All of this is not just me being stuck in some bubble. It’s no wonder that Google’s CEO is Indian. Google has been committing fraud on people for years. Those years belong to Google’s current CEO who chose money over everyone’s security. Sure, that is just one example, but, you don’t have to look far to finds tons more.

Why some people hate Indians?
Because very few cultures or people like arrogance and the promotion of some people being born inherently better than others.
I'm from the US but have traveled globally as well as all over the US itself. I find this to be a theme that is extremely distasteful among Indians both in India and in other countries, including the US.
No human being is inherently more valuable than another. If that is what is ingrained in you from birth, expect push back from more enlightened cultures.
Truth is truth.
