The Chinese society is flexible and open to change. Their promise is: Give us a superior product, at an affordable price, and we'll adopt it faster than any other country in the world. Be it HSR, digital payments, EVs, domestic medicine, genetic treatments, low altitude economy, etc. The Chinese consumer is dynamic and so is the economy.

I just came back from my Xmas holidays in China (Shanghai, Beijing xi'an and Chengdu) and I can only say that reality far surpasses what we saw in this short documentary. I was blown away by the speed of EV adoption in China also the fast speed railway system. We also saw thousands of young Chinese tourists travelling and enjoying their cultural and historical heritage like I have never seen before in any other country I have visited. This documentary is a great work and I hope more people in English speaking countries can watch this and have an alternative view to that offer in traditional media outlets, otherwise they are simply missing out!

Mandarin and Chinese are same. China has other languages as well but the official language which is the national language and the lingua franca is mandarin. Chinese seems difficult in the beginning (of course it is) but all you need is to work on basics in the beginning. In a few months, you will feel lots of improvement.

I went to China in the early 2000s as a kid and it is bizarre how much things have changed in 20 years, as an avid student of science and history I have never read of anything like this before. Say what you want about "Communism" but the Chinese government and people have done a great job through their reforms that have helped the world. Hopefully they keep doing it and do more.

What happened was simply sending young people around the world to learn and while waiting for their return a structure was created that allowed these young people to improve the country without any kind of limitation. Like leaving your village in a remote place and coming back to find that it is connected to a super fast train line with facilities that allow you to apply your studies in less than 1 year.

I am an American that lives in Brazil, and I shocked at how fast the adoption of Chinese EVs are taking off here. Saw a BYD for the first time a year ago and now I see them everyday everywhere. The last time I remember seeing something like that was when Tesla's starting appearing everywhere in SF Bay Area.

Competition is very welcome so I wish china the best. In the video you see a lot of european technology especially in the lab section microscopes from Zeiss and centrifuges from Eppendorf. This equipment is super expensive since only a few universities buy that stuff there are no economies of scale yet. With china focusing more on biotec prices could fall which is good for all working in the field.

I just want an unbiased China documentary. All this stuff is amazing but if your government has total control over your speech, internet, and behavior via a social credit score and cbdc, there is a super dark side to the situation. Everyone seems polarized - either it's great or it's terrible when it comes to China.
@timrowland9422
The proposed subscxtion business model is probably the worst and most destructive idea since monopolies began, and should be classified as a crime. Once they have you as a subscriber client, they can increase the price as and when they want, as well as colluding with other manufacturers, to make sure the illusion of choice is maintained.

ZEEKR is actually more important than NIO since this was made their LFP Golden Battery has proven to be the fasting charging session on the market, which for the global market is more relevant than battery swapping. NIO Power Swap is great in China but is unlikely to be mass market in the rest of the world, more a niche in Condo canyons.

75% NEVs is actually not good enough if too many are PHEVs. They need to be BEVs and RE-EVs but not PHEVs. If 75% is made up of 50% PHEVs then that is a fail as BEVs would be less than 40%. BYD are currently discounting and pushing too many PHEVs.

@DynastyEmory
I think the replaceable battery makes sense if NIO can scale the service and technology globally. I believe consumers will prefer a quick replaceable battery (that saves them a whole lot of charging time) and a possible continued excellent battery health, than time consuming plug in charging technology with degrading batteries. The car autonomously navigating the battery replacement center and back to its owner is also an enticing added convenience imo.

Do you ask those that only give the negative side of china to give the positive too? If so, then good on you. If not, then watch this and go back to the negative channels. At least you will have seen both sides.
@gluebox
People like you don't like to hear ANYTHING good about China. Why did you even watch this? You would NEVER ask such a question if it was a documentary on car manufacturing in the US.

996 is fastly falling apart. New generation Chinese people are healthy and wealthy. So there is not that kind of desperation to work like that. Secondly, this documentary is about new technology. There are also videos about social conditions, where unemployment is also discussed. Finally, this only introduced you to few new technologies there are so many advances China has made, from Robotics, Quantum and so many. If you want to talk about everything it will take a 100 episode series. This is only picking a few.
@atky7032
It's good to talk about everything good, even if it is support by the Chinese government. This is because in many countries (including the west), there are not many good things to talk about anymore. These countries are failing.
@BoetHuman-pk8it
Why don't you make a video about america and the homeless people that the world can see what is going on in america.
