But you're far more likely to get into a tussle in the downtown party districts at night, since people gather there to drink at clubs and drunk people are more violent. That's a universal thing though.

Then the rest of them beat up my boss until he couldn’t resist, and stole his stuff. I doubt I could have coped with an attack like that, and I was getting really worried for my wife and kid, which was a big part of why I left.

The risk is lower in some of the smaller towns and cities, but ask the locals, and use some judgement - some smaller towns can be really horrible.
