Is it just me or are most of the foreigners working here mentally unstable?

I've worked in various companies here for around 10 years and I have met some truly bizarre individuals and it really gives credibility to the whole loser back home stereotype. I've been a hiring manager at a few companies and I've encountered some truly bizarre people here.
I would be curious to hear about your stories and experiences here with other foreigners. I'll begin by sharing a couple of my own stories.
A south African man that refused to wear anything other than a springboks jersey. He would cry racism if he was asked to dress professionally.
An American man that pathologically lied about going to Harvard and having a 4.5 GPA (Which is not a real grade). He literally put this in his WeChat name.
A "Canadian" guy that was clearly African.
A Scottish man with no qualifications whatsoever that somehow got a job as a senior English teacher that eventually got fired for going on homophobic and racist rants to kids.
An American guy that got triggered and violent with people and kids if they pointed out that he is black.
An English guy that got a face tattoo of the word 北京 on his neck because he thought it was cool.
A south African woman that changed her name several times in the span of 5 months (she was fired as she claimed she had time blindness, i.e. she was late constantly.)
Multiple alcoholics from pretty much every country.
An American guy that claimed he was told to drink alcohol at work by his "doctor". He would openly drink from a flask at work.
A pair of Russian twins that refused to admit that they weren't Russian, despite not speaking English fluently and being literally unable to find the USA on a map.
Those are just a few examples of people I've encountered.
EDIT- for all the people calling me a foreigner and a loser, I'm Chinese.

Off the top of my head. I’ve worked with the following.
Making a Taiwan flag flashcard and using it in a parents meeting.
Writing his lesson content in every language except Chinese. He would have it written in Romanian, Afrikaans, Polish just not Chinese (note he didn’t speak any of these languages).
Copied all of EF’s materials and made his own school whilst working at EF. Eventually got fired and got a job at a university where he could date students and eventually murdered one.
Didn’t come to class. Students would be waiting an hour for him (university) and if he did show up he did very little except tell the students off.
Two teachers who had their classes race either other outside on the shared bikes and called it a class.
Baijiu in the water bottle.
I’ve also worked with many outstanding educators but the barrier for entry is so low that you get all types of people.

Just casually dropping that this one guy murdered one of his students and it's not even top of the list.

I remember reading about this. I remember reading he was a mattress salesman or something before he joined the university as a teacher. I was a bit puzzled as I thought...you'd need more qualifications.

He has a bachelor’s degree, an American passport and I believe a TEFL. That’s more than enough to get hired in most schools in China.

So u r telling me I can qualify even tho I was born in taiwan? I can prob teach english better than those nut jobs consider. I actually speak both except I dont look foreign enough lol. I got that as denial reason before from both China and taiwan xD

His death sentence was upheld in July 2022 on appeal, he is almost certainly dead by now. China doesn’t actually announce executions most of the time though, so it’s hard to say.

I thought they sent the bill for the bullet to the family, but since no one could find his US family it’s hardly surprising.

Holy shit I remember no.3 as it was all over the 八卦 WeChat groups since we were just heading into lockdown. Did he seem psychotic as a workmate?

I'm really concerned about how so many problematic people managed to get hired and work in China. In contrast, some people with a good resume and work experience are rather dismissed as "non-native speakers" or "no graduation diploma" regardless of having amazing skill sets from past work experience.

Agreed. It is very unfortunate, but when Chinese staff continue to hire based on skin (mostly) and not on true merit and genuine qualification, you will take in people on these lists.

American OCD guy who flipped out at work after meticulously planning lessons hehad not been told to plan and it ended up all being useless. He later overstayed his visa and when at the visa office trying to sort it out he started screaming at the cops blaming them. 2 weeks in jail then deported.
Very nice irish lady who got drunk and accused a fellow teacher of stealing her phone. Police got involved. She had visa issues and was let go
Openly drunk flask-carrying Irish dude in his 50s who hit on every woman at the school. He came up behind one lady once and handed her a condom. Finally fired when he hit on a student.
American flask-at-work drunk who dropped a 3 year old on her head.
American dude highly qualified for the subject who just felt he didn't need to show up to class. I suspect he may have SAed a Chinese coworker.
His british replacement who was even better qualified but was also a pathological liar. He also felt that showing up for work was optional. Claimed to be one thing, was apparently another which better fit the position than his lie. Liked trying to spread chaos by telling people 'so and so said such and such about you.' Would habitually tell obvious lies about random topics and double down when called on it. Got indignant about his firing and blamed me. (I actually recommended keeping him in spite of.)
Irish lady who wore cutoff shorts that showed half of her (very nice) ass cheeks to work.
School where about a third of the foreign staff including admins fucked off from work to drink and party during COVID instead of doing their online classes.

I really thought the whole “drunk Irish” thing was an awful stereotype until every single Irish person I’ve met in China has constantly been drunk/missed work because hung over/been perpetually broke from always being at the bar/western restaurants.

Maybe half of the ones I have met were drunks. Which is kind of a lot.

Maybe China attracts drunk Irishman specifically

Wondering why the ass cheeks cannot be appreciated like art. Do they not teach art in China??
ens91
Hey, the Irish lady showing half her ass isn't so bad. The Chinese staff I've usually worked with don't dress in what i consider appropriate attire for kindergarten, I mean come on, you squat a lot in kindergarten, wear a longer skirt. So, maybe the Irish lady thought this kind of attire was OK.

I only worked in China for one year, but I worked in Taiwan for 5, Thailand for 1, and Vietnam for 1.5 years. Yes, there are some odd people everywhere. Keep in mind that 3/4 expats are men, and the kind of men that are willing to go off to another country (many in a not so serious capacity) are often going to be a little off or "losers". Are there some decent men? Yes, and they tend to have a local girlfriend or at least some kind of social life and aren't the partying type. That is not the majority.
It very much depends on the school/company and their hiring criteria. The more picky they are, the better the coworkers. The places I've had the worst coworkers were in Thailand and Vietnam, because those schools weren't able to be too picky and were sometimes understaffed. The location wasn't in a major city. All the female expats I've met seemed to be okay (although I did hear that the reason one school in Taiwan required a doctor's note to ask off work because a previous teacher was taking some Fridays off without permission).
The problem I've run into most is guys who have anger issues, or they're not responsible enough to be teachers. Or even worse, they're disrespectful towards students and female coworkers. I had the least problematic coworkers in Taiwan. I think that's because it's a less popular destination, for tourists or expats, so it doesn't attract the more odd crowd.
I think it takes a little something special to want to work in China, especially in a smaller city. I found it to be an isolating experience. I'm sure things would have been better in a large city. Expats that tend to stick around in certain locations for more than a year or two either adapt or they start to mentally breakdown. Usually it's the inefficiency and arbitrary rules that get to them. What once seemed like an adventure became a burden, but instead of leaving, they stay and get bitter or go off the deep end. (I especially dislike when they diss women. Here's a hint: the local women aren't the problem, and neither were the women back home.) I guess that's why I never made many friends with expats, and the one I'm still friends with is a woman. Local coworkers were great, but management was usually a mess.
SpaceBiking
Those are the ones you notice. The majority are sane and just do their own thing and go unnoticed.

A good point that is rarely brought up in these whingefest threads.
